PULSAR Pet Care
A smart product and UI/UX concept designed for emotional connection and pet well-being.
01 / Project Overview
PULSAR is a smart pet care system that combines a wearable emotion collar with a mobile app. It helps pet owners understand their pets’ daily stress level through measurable signals such as HRV, temperature, activity, location, and device status.
Instead of relying only on guesswork, owners can read their pet’s condition through clear visual feedback, stress trends, and real-time alerts. The project focuses on making pet care more understandable, responsive, and emotionally connected.
02 / Hardware & Form
The hardware is designed as a lightweight smart collar that can be worn naturally in a pet’s daily life. The form uses a soft black strap with a compact sensor module placed at the front of the collar. The rounded device body makes the product feel safer, softer, and less technical.
The front LED indicator provides quick visual feedback, allowing owners to understand the pet’s current status at a glance. The collar is designed to feel practical, wearable, and approachable, while still presenting a clean smart product identity.
Hardware Form & Details
The collar includes a wearable strap, a compact sensing module, LED feedback, and connection status support. The product form is kept simple so the hardware does not distract from the pet’s natural movement or comfort.
Product in Context & Pet Interaction
In real-life use, the pet wears the collar during daily activities such as resting, walking, playing, or staying at home. The collar quietly collects health and activity signals, while the app helps owners interpret those signals and respond when needed.
03 / App Experience & Interface
The PULSAR app turns pet health data into a clear and friendly interface. The Today page shows the pet’s current daily score, HRV, temperature, and stress level. The Trends page helps owners understand stress changes over time through weekly, monthly, and yearly views.
The Map page shows the pet’s location, movement speed, distance, collar connection, and battery status. The Profile page organizes pet information and collar settings, including device status, stress thresholds, LED display mode, alerts, and logs.
The app experience is designed to feel light, calm, and easy to understand. It uses soft blue and warm red states to clearly separate healthy and elevated stress conditions, helping owners make quick care decisions without feeling overwhelmed by data.
04 / User Flow & Logic
PULSAR creates a connected loop between the pet, the collar, the app, and the owner’s care response. The pet wears the collar, and the hardware collects biometric and activity signals. These signals are sent to the mobile app through Bluetooth connection.
The app then visualizes the pet’s current condition through daily score, stress level, trends, alerts, and location. When the pet’s stress level becomes elevated, the system sends alerts and care suggestions. The owner can then check the pet, adjust the environment, comfort the pet, or continue monitoring the trend over time.
System Architecture & Interaction Flow
Pet wears collar → Collar collects HRV, temperature, activity, location, and device status → Data syncs to app → App visualizes stress status and trends → Owner receives alerts and care tips → Owner responds through daily care actions.
05 / Emotional Connection & Lifestyle
PULSAR is not only a health tracking tool. It is designed as a gentle bridge between pets and their owners. Pets cannot directly explain stress, discomfort, or emotional changes, so the system helps translate subtle signals into something owners can notice and understand.
In daily life, PULSAR supports small moments of care: checking if a pet is calm, noticing stress after activity, receiving an alert when something changes, or simply feeling more connected to the pet’s condition. The product turns invisible emotional and physical signals into visible care moments.
Real-world Companion Scenarios
PULSAR can be used at home, during walks, after playtime, or when the pet is resting. Whether the pet is active outdoors or lying quietly indoors, the system helps owners stay aware of their companion’s well-being in a calm and non-intrusive way.
06 / What This Project Shows
This project shows my ability to connect user research, product thinking, UI/UX design, and emotional experience design into one coherent system. I explored how a physical smart device and a mobile interface can work together to support clearer pet care decisions.
Through PULSAR, I demonstrate skills in problem framing, user flow design, interface structure, visual design, product storytelling, and system-level thinking. The project also reflects my interest in designing technology that feels warm, understandable, and emotionally meaningful in everyday life.
